Belarus seeks closer inter-parliamentary cooperation with Georgia

MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – Belarus hopes to strengthen its inter-parliamentary relations with Georgia, Chairman of the Permanent Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Valery Voronetsky said at the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Belarus David Kotaria, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The parties exchanged opinions on a wide range of issues, including cooperation in the trade, economic, tourist and other sectors. “Valery Voronetsky praised the bilateral relations between Belarus and Georgia. He expressed hope for further strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation, including through the exchange of visits, and voiced the plans to set up a parliamentary working group on cooperation with the Parliament of Georgia,” the press service said.

The parties also discussed the organization of the official visit of a delegation of Georgia to be led by Chairman of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze to Belarus.

In turn, David Kotaria praised the successful work of the MPs of the two countries and expressed interest in the further expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation, including the exchange of experience to be gained during the forthcoming 26th annual session of the OSCE PA in Minsk on 5-9 July 2017.
