Belarus, Russia’s Tyumen Oblast to advance cooperation in production sector

MINSK, 30 June (BelTA) – Prospects of advancing mutually beneficial partnership in various branches of the production sector were discussed at a session of the working group on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation between Belarus and Russia’s Tyumen Oblast, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

The session was arranged in the form of a video conference chaired by the heads of the group – Belarusian Deputy Energy Minister Vadim Zakrevsky and Tyumen Oblast Vice Governor Vladimir Cheimetov.

In particular, the Belarusian side suggested discussing in detail opportunities for selling more passenger transport to Tyumen Oblast. “We have proposals regarding urban transport, including our modern electric buses. I think they will be interesting for you. We can organize these shipments on preferential terms taking into account lending programs and export incentive programs that exist both in Belarus and Russia,” Vadim Zakrevsky noted. Belarus is also ready to satisfy Tyumen Oblast’s demand for trucks, agricultural machines, road construction machines, and municipal vehicles.

Peat extraction and processing is another important cooperation avenue. The Belarusian research institute Belgiprotopgaz is ready to update information about proved peat fields in Tyumen Oblast for the sake of consequent development of feasibility studies for investment projects. The sides agreed to work out the relevant action plan.

The sides also discussed cooperation in the area of light industry, agribusiness, civil engineering, and forestry industry. Apart from that, the Russian side suggested working out possible options for cooperation in the sphere of information technologies.

Tyumen Oblast is Belarus’ largest trade partner among the 80 regions of Russia Belarus has established trade and economic cooperation with. In Q1 2020 mutual trade rose by 16.4% in comparison with the same period of last year. The sides confirmed the mutual intention to preserve and bolster the existing positive dynamics.
