Belarus, Russia’s Pskov Oblast to develop cooperation in construction, road maintenance

MOSCOW, 12 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Pskov Oblast will step up cooperation in construction, road maintenance and will increase supplies of various products, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian embassy in Russia after a Belarusian delegation led by Belarus’ Architecture and Construction Minister Dmitry Mikulenok visited Pskov Oblast.

Dmitry Mikulenok and Pskov Oblast Governor Mikhail Vedernikov discussed the main questions of bilateral cooperation including the participation of Belarusian civil engineering organizations in building public facilities in Pskov Oblast, maintaining and building roads in the region, as well as the mutual increase in products supplies. “The governor supported ideas and projects which aim to bolster trade and economic cooperation and increase the trade between Belarus and Pskov Oblast,” the press service noted. “The parties commended the high level of interaction between business entities of Belarus and Pskov Oblast, mutual desire to develop stable and mutually beneficial economic relations, expressed eagerness to organize business trips to Belarus for representatives of the Pskov Oblast business community. They also agreed to facilitate active bilateral ties at all levels. The Pskov Oblast governor invited Belarus to take part in the Hansa Forum of Border Regions,” the press service added.

The delegations also held a meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Pskov Oblast. Representing Belarus in the working group were members of state bodies, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and leading industrial enterprises. Dmitry Mikulenok noted that Belarus focuses on developing cooperation with Russia’s regions, primarily with the bordering regions. “We are ready to provide the necessary support to promote cooperation and mutual trade, launch joint exhibitions. Belarus is eager to give a new impetus to the development of our relations,” the minister said.

The parties also revised results of cooperation between Belarus and Pskov Oblast in 2018 and early 2019, discussed the implementation of the roadmap on trade and economic, science and technical, cultural cooperation for 2018-2020, considered matters of further interaction in construction, supplies of construction materials, passenger vehicles and road construction equipment, as wells as intermunicipal cooperation.

During the visit, the Belarusian delegation went to a construction site in a residential area of the village of Borisovichi, Pskov District and Pskov Electric Machine Factory which already supplies its products to several Belarusian plants.
