Belarus-Russia Union State launches DNA Identification program

TULA, 6 July (BelTA) – The Belarus-Russia Union State is starting the DNA Identification program, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota told the media on 6 July, BelTA has learned.

The state secretary pointed out the program was adopted by the Union State Council of Ministers in June 2017. “This is a very interesting program. It is very costly but the main thing is that we understand what its upshot is going to be,” Grigory Rapota remarked. This project will be implemented for the benefit of the Belarusian and Russian investigative bodies and healthcare ministries.

Grigory Rapota also emphasized that DNA Identification became the tenth program to be carried out in the Union State. Another two draft projects have been adopted, too.

Speaking about the implemented projects, the state secretary mentioned a program on potatoes and Jerusalem artichoke. “We are not fully satisfied with its results,” he said. This program is 100% complete in Belarus and 90% in Russia. However, he noted, it has brought some interesting results in the production of new potato varieties and the processing of Jerusalem artichoke.

The Belarusian and Russian journalists met with Grigory Rapota in Tula as part of the press tour arranged by the Union State Standing Committee and the international news agency Russia Today.
