Belarus-Russia program of concerted action in foreign policy for 2018-2019 approved

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – The program of concerted action in the field of foreign policy of the states parties to the Union State Treaty for 2018-2019 was approved at the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Belarus-Russia Union State in Minsk on 19 June, BelTA has learned.

The program submitted by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia is focused on continuity. The countries shall continue to deepen bilateral interaction in the CIS and the CSTO. The countries shall cooperate in developing coherent positions in the UN, the OSCE and other international organizations, in ensuring regional and European security, increasing the role of Belarus and Russia in combating new challenges and threats, including international terrorism, extremism, illegal migration, human trafficking, drug trafficking, transnational crime.

The program defines the active interaction in strengthening and developing the Union State as one of the most important areas of cooperation. Special attention is given to the provision of diplomatic support of the EAEU activities, increasing its international authority, fostering cooperation in matters of aligning the Union State development and the Chinese One Belt and Road project.

The program enables the two countries to engage in an active dialogue on the most important problems of international relations and coordinate efforts in foreign policy, including on most important issues on the agenda of the IAEA at the IAEA Governing Council sessions and in the interaction during the negotiations on resolutions and decisions of the IAEA General Conference sessions.
