Belarus, Russia discuss international information security

MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) - State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Stanislav Zas met with Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Oleg Khramov and Special Representative of the Russian President for International Cooperation on Information Security Andrei Krutskikh on 13 March, the State Secretariat of the Belarusian Security Council informed BelTA.

The officials discussed cooperation and coordination of Belarus’ and Russia’s efforts to promote their vision of enhancing international information security at various international platforms. They specified the ways to implement Belarus-Russia intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in international information security of 2013.

The participants noted that joint efforts in promoting international information security are effective and important, commended the results of Belarus-Russia interdepartmental consultations which took place in Minsk on 13 March.

The Belarusian side also pointed out that Belarus considers the resolution of the UN General Assembly “Developments in the field of information and telecommunications in the context of international security” as an essential legal tool to further strengthen international information security and improve national legislation. The resolution was adopted at the initiative of Russia in co-authorship with Belarus in November 2018.

Stanislav Zas informed his Russian colleagues about the recent session of the Security Council where the draft Information Security Concept and its major points were presented to the Belarusian president.
