Belarus, Russia almost agree on mutual visa recognition

MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia have almost agreed on the issue of mutual visa recognition, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota said in an interview to Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

The consultations on mutual recognition of visas are well underway at the level of the ministries of foreign affairs. “In fact, the Belarusian visa will be recognized as Russian in Russia, and the Russian visa will be considered as Belarusian in Belarus,” Grigory Rapota said.

Grigory Rapota expressed the hope that the issue will be resolved within a month and a half.

As for the mobile roaming in the Union State, the dialogue has shifted towards constructive proposals. “I do not expect a quick resolution of this issue, but I can promise that we will stick to the topic,” the State Secretary said.

The two countries continue negotiations on gas prices and a number of other issues, including security. “There are two programs. The one was launched on 1 January. The other one is to be adopted in the near future. The one is about DNA identification, which is in the interests of investigative bodies and healthcare. The second is for information security,” Grigory Rapota said, adding that these are not the only examples of the Union State programs, related to the security of the two states and their citizens.
