Belarus ratifies visa waiver agreement with Oman

MINSK, 13 January (BelTA) - Belarusian MPs have ratified the visa waiver agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Sultanate of Oman. The corresponding bill was passed at a meeting of the third session of the House of Representatives on 13 January, BelTA has learned.

The visa waiver agreement with Oman for holders of ordinary passports was signed by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Oman on 6 October 2025 in Minsk, during the official visit of Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said to Belarus.

According to Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevgeny Shestakov, the agreement establishes visa-free entry for citizens of the Republic of Belarus to Oman and, respectively, for citizens of Oman to Belarus, on the basis of valid national passports for a period of up to 30 days from the date of entry. At the same time, the total period of visa-free stay should not exceed 90 days per calendar year.

“The provisions of the agreement do not exempt citizens from the obligation to comply with the current migration and other legislation of the host country. The agreement also sets the validity period of passports used for visa-free entry - at least 180 days from the day of entry,” the deputy minister explained.

He recalled that direct air service was launched between Belarus and Oman in February 2025, which undoubtedly contributes to the growth of tourist flows and the development of business ties.

According to the deputy minister, the Omani side has informed about the completion of the internal procedures necessary for the agreement to enter into force. The agreement is expected to contribute to the development and strengthening of bilateral cooperation in all sectors between the Republic of Belarus and the Sultanate of Oman.

The current session also saw the ratification of a series of international treaties establishing visa-free travel with countries including Guinea-Bissau, Zimbabwe, Colombia, Laos, Türkiye, and Uganda.
