MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is on a working trip to Gomel Oblast, BelTA has learned.

In particular, the head of state will visit Zhitkovichi District where he will be informed about the fulfillment of his instructions to build a bridge over the Pripyat River. Besides, the president will be informed about the state of other bridges in the country and the prospects of their development.

The ceremony to open the bridge will take place on 6 November.

Alexander Lukashenko is expected to talk to workers of road construction organizations partaking in the renovation of the bridge, residents of Zhitkovichi District. The bridge was renovated in accordance with the decree of the president. OAO Mostostroy was a general contractor.

This bridge over the Pripyat River was built in 1985.The traffic intensity in summer is up to 2,800 cars every day, with 35-40% of freight vehicles.

The estimated cost of the renovation project will not exceed Br35 million.
