Belarus president in favor of greenery planted everywhere

Belarus president in favor of greenery planted everywhere

MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – It is necessary to put more efforts into planting greenery in Belarusian cities and towns. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions during the government conference held on 2 April to discuss regional development, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “As we’ve agreed, this year is a year to beautify and accomplish Belarus, a year to plant flowers and greenery everywhere. The country has to be beautiful. Trees should be planted in every spare spot in every small village, in every agrotown, every district, every oblast, and in Minsk. We are talking about people’s health after all. We are talking about perception of the country. You should put things right once and for all so that people would understand what order is needed and how it should be maintained.”

The president reminded he had given instructions to plant trees and shrubs along motorways, in barren lands, and in unused territories. “It is only practical. You wouldn’t have to mow road shoulders that much. Nothing has been done. I will hold responsible every aide for the oblasts and the city of Minsk,” the head of state warned. “Get down to it while you can.”
