Belarus president appoints new aides in Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast, Minsk

MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has appointed new aides in Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast, the city of Minsk, BelTA has learned.

Valery Vakulchik has been appointed aide of the Belarus president – inspector for Brest Oblast. Yuri Karayev will be Belarus president’s aide in Grodno Oblast, Aleksandr Barsukov – in Minsk.

“I want to make a public statement: I have made a personnel decision, and the three of you will work in very challenging and responsible parts of our country. The decision was made in the context of the recent events (they are not over yet, we don’t know right now what they will result in). Why you? You are military people, and we don’t have to acquaint you with the state of affairs and to teach you,” the head of state said.

Addressing Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova, Aleksandr Lukashenko instructed her to prepare the legal framework concerning the president’s aides. “They will have much broader authorities. I don’t want to specify them on the spur of the moment. We need to talk about it once again. But they will be still in charge of the personnel selection in those regions and will work in association with governors. Besides, they will supervise the work of the personnel. Entirely. Of the entire personnel pool in the region. From heads of rural councils to directors of enterprises and governors,” the president said. “As for the personnel selection and other aspects, the social and economic development, of course, these are very delicate issues. They have experience. They will work with governors of Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast and Minsk. Therefore, keeping in touch with a governor is very delicate work. And I am absolutely convinced that, having such experience, they will cope with it.”
