Belarus prepares national report on 2030 Agenda

MINSK, 6 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian government agencies have prepared a national report on progress in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing in Minsk on 6 July, BelTA has learned.

It is expected that National Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals Marianna Shchetkina will present the report at the High-level Political Forum due in New York on 10-20 July.

Belarus’ report contains information about the initial situation in Belarus with respect to the 2030 Agenda. The international community will be introduced to Belarus’ vision and approaches to achieving a number of goals that reflect the agenda of the 2017 political forum (Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world), and also the interconnected and related Sustainable Development Goals.

The forum is the UN central platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals.

“In 2015 Belarus together with 193 states endorsed the 2030 Agenda and expressed strong support for its implementation through achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. To achieve the goals on the 2030 Agenda, our country has already taken a number of important steps at the national level, including the development of public policy for sustainable development and appropriate institutional mechanisms,” Dmitry Mironchik said.
