Belarus’ PM off to Kyrgyzstan for working visit

MINSK, 2 November (BelTA) – Belarus’ Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov has departed for a working visit to Kyrgyzstan, BelTA learned from spokesman for the Belarusian head of government Vladislav Sychevich.

The Premier is set to take part in the meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) which is due in Bishkek on 2-3 November.

The meeting will discuss the development of cooperation in the SCO. A special emphasis will be on the prospects of economic collaboration. Participants of the meeting are expected to sign about 10 documents.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an international regional organization that consists of six member states: China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and six observers: Afghanistan, Belarus, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan. In July 2015 the SCO heads of state decided in favor of starting the admission procedure with regard to India and Pakistan. Iran also seeks the SCO membership in the future. Apart from that, there are six dialogue partner states: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey, and Sri Lanka.
