DUSHANBE, 12 October (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to develop relations with China, Belarus’ Prime Minister Sergei Rumas said at a meeting with Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang on 12 October, BelTA has learned.

Sergei Rumas thanked Li Keqiang for his personal attention to the Belarusian-Chinese relations. “Our meeting is taking place on the territory of a third state and I am confident that we must meet in China or Belarus in the near future,” he said.

According to the prime minister, the leaders of Belarus and China held a meeting at the SCO summit in Qingdao and reached a number of important agreements that have already been implemented. The two countries launched visa-free travel for their citizens. “This proves our mutual desire to develop bilateral relations,” Sergei Rumas stressed.

Belarus and China are gearing up to host the Belt and Road international forum in June 2019. Belarus hopes Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend it.

The Belarus-China trade totaled $1,971.1 million in January-July 2018 (up by 29% as against 2017). The main exports included potash fertilizers, polyamide, flax, milk, condensed cream, dried cream, products made from stone, milk whey, electronic circuits, coleseed oil.
