MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) – Belarus plans to hold joint contests of S&T projects with Iran, Hungary, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, and Indonesia in 2019, Chairman of the Belarusian State Science and Technology Committee Aleksandr Shumilin told journalists at BelTA’s press center on 29 April.

“In 2019 we are planning contests of joint scientific and technological projects with Iran, Hungary, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, and Indonesia. We are also set to sign agreements in the field of science and technology with the Czech Republic, Thailand and Bolivia,” Aleksandr Shumilin said.

Plans are in place to finance 83 international joint S&T projects with 12 countries such as China, the Republic of Korea, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Pakistan, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Cuba, and Poland.

Aleksandr Shumilin also spoke about the performance in 2018. Last year’s export of science-intensive and hi-tech products totaled about $14 billion, which was almost 20% more than in 2017. Belarus has agreements on cooperation in science with 47 countries. Seven new agreements and memorandums in science and technology were concluded in 2018. 2018 also saw contests of joint S&T projects with Armenia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, India and China, and from January to April 2019 with Germany, Slovakia, Israel. In 2018 the collective sections of S&T developments of Belarus were organized at 12 international exhibitions, which brought contracts and pre-contract agreements worth more than $8 million.
