Belarus parliament in favor of closer cooperation with World Bank

MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian parliament will pay much attention to the matters raised by World Bank Country Manager for Belarus Young Chul Kim, BelTA learned from Viktor Valyushitsky, Chairman of the Economic Policy Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, during the meeting with World Bank representatives on 29 October.

The Belarusian MP said: “I would like to offer words of recognition and gratitude for the profound analysis and objective evaluation of the current economic situation in the country. Our government and the parliament will pay much attention to the matters raised by Young Chul Kim.” Viktor Valyushitsky explained he was referring to the recent speech made by the World Bank Country Manager for Belarus during the conference.

The MP remarked that Belarus will rely on a rather stronger industrial potential. “I think we will resolve our economic problems on our own and with your assistance,” Viktor Valyushitsky told Young Chul Kim.

The Belarusian MP said he believes that meetings of World Bank representatives in the House of Representatives of the National Assembly had become a good tradition. Viktor Valyushitsky said he believes that the meeting held on 29 October would become another step towards expanding and bolstering the dialogue between the Belarus parliament and the international expert community.
