Belarus, Pakistan’s Punjab to ramp up cooperation in agriculture, healthcare

MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Pakistan’s Punjab Province will elaborate an action plan to scale up cooperation in agriculture, manufacturing and healthcare by the end of the year. The matter was discussed during the working trip of Belarus’ Ambassador to Pakistan Andrei Yermolovich to Lahore, the capital city of Punjab Province, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

“At the meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the parties agreed to work out an action plan to step up cooperation in agriculture, forestry, manufacturing, healthcare and pharmaceutics,” the embassy informed.

During the talks with Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, the parties discussed Belarus’ participation in a project to establish a university of applied qualifications in Punjab, the exchange of visits by regional authorities and organization of exhibitions and business match-making sessions.

The embassy informed that the talks were held with the new administration of Punjab Province that was formed following the general election in Pakistan on 25 July. The talks focused on promotion of interregional contacts in trade, economy and investments.

It was noted that cooperation agreements signed between Punjab Province and Mogilev Oblast, Punjab Province and Minsk Oblast and Lahore and Mogilev during the highest-level visits of 2015-2016 laid an adequate foundation for full-fledged cooperation between the regions of the two countries.
