Belarus notes importance of integration initiative to defuse tensions

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Implementing the integration of integrations initiative can help reduce tensions in international relations, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

Vladimir Andreichenko met with Nurlan Nigmatulin on the sidelines of the 4th Meeting of Speakers of the Eurasian Countries' Parliaments in Nur-Sultan. Speaking about items on the agenda of the meeting, Vladimir Andreichenko pointed out that the modern world should never forget the cruel lessons of WWII and learn from them. Especially today, when a new stage of the arms race can bring nations to the brink of a global nuclear conflict. “In this connection, Vladimir Andreichenko stressed the importance of the integration of integrations initiative championed by the Belarusian and Kazakh leaders. Implementing the initiative can greatly help reduce tensions in international relations promoting good neighborly relations, equality, mutual trust, and economic cooperation development,” the press service noted.

In January-June 2019, Belarus-Kazakhstan trade amounted to $481.7 million and increased by 11.8% year-on-year. Vladimir Andreichenko noted that such rapid development of mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas has been possible thanks to a friendly and trust-based relationship between the Belarusian head of state and the first president of Kazakhstan, as well as the current country’s leadership.

Vladimir Andreichenko also spoke about contribution of MPs of the two countries to the development of economic cooperation.

The press service pointed out that the Belarusian delegation received a warm welcome in Nur-Sultan. Nurlan Nigmatulin stressed that Belarus is one of Kazakhstan’s most important political and economic partners. He said that the relations between the two countries set an example to other states. According to Nurlan Nigmatulin, the leaders of Belarus and Kazakhstan have played the key role in achieving such progress in the relations. He noted that Kazakhstan is ready to continue strengthening friendly relations with Belarus.

Speaking about the parliamentary election campaign in Belarus, Nurlan Nigmatulin agreed to Vladimir Andreichenko’s proposal to send Kazakh representatives to observation missions of international parliamentary organizations. He said that the Mazhilis will send its observers for the upcoming elections to the Belarusian parliament.

As BelTA reported earlier, Vladimir Andreichenko is taking part in the 4th Meeting of Speakers of the Eurasian Countries' Parliaments dedicated to the topic Greater Eurasia: Dialogue. Trust. Partnership which is underway in Nur-Sultan on 23-24 September.

Vladimir Andreichenko will be among speakers at the plenary meeting and will hold bilateral meetings to present Belarus’ stance on items on the agenda of the meeting and development of mutually beneficial cooperation, the press service noted.

Parliaments of 59 countries (including 47 at the level of speakers and vice speakers) and 13 international and interparliamentary organizations have confirmed their participation in the meeting. The event is designed to open a direct multilateral dialogue between legislatures of European and Asian countries and international and interparliamentary organizations in order to ensure effective cooperation in Eurasia.
