Belarus, Nigeria sign declaration of customs cooperation

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – The customs services of Belarus and Nigeria signed a joint declaration of customs cooperation in mutual administrative assistance, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian State Customs Committee.

The document was signed by Chairman of the Belarusian State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky and Deputy Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service JP Ajoku.

The joint declaration marked the first step in strengthening cooperation between the customs services of Belarus and Nigeria. The experts are finalizing the draft memorandum of understanding, customs cooperation and mutual assistance between the two governments. It defines the basic principles and forms of cooperation, the procedure for interaction in detecting, suppressing and investigating customs offenses.

"I believe that today's meeting will become the starting point of our effective cooperation. It will certainly have a positive impact on Belarus-Nigeria trade and economic cooperation," Vladimir Orlovsky said.

The delegation of the Nigerian Customs Service paid an official visit to Belarus. The guests got acquainted with Belarus' State Customs Committee, its institute, customs laboratory and infrastructure facilities.
