MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Netherlands confirm their mutual interest in further expansion of the political dialogue and trade and economic cooperation. The relevant statement was made in the course of political consultations between the two ministries of foreign affairs in the Hague, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

During the consultations the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko. The Netherlandish delegation was led by Pieter Jan Kleiweg de Zwaan, Deputy Director General for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was the first bilateral consultations at the level of deputy ministers in the history of the bilateral relations.

The diplomats discussed the state and prospects of advancing Belarusian-Netherlandish relations in politics, trade, economy, and humanitarian affairs. They talked over human rights problems, interaction between Belarus and the European Union, and the situation in the region. “The sides confirmed their mutual interest in further expansion of the political dialogue, trade, economic, and investment cooperation,” noted the press service.

While in the Hague Oleg Kravchenko also met with a group of experts in the Netherlands International Relations Institute Clingendael. The Belarusian diplomat presented Belarus’ foreign policy approaches and the vision of the regional situation.
