MOGILEV, 20 March (BelTA) – Mogilev Oblast of Belarus and Jizzakh Region of Uzbekistan plan to develop regional cooperation. The intention was voiced during a meeting of Mogilev Oblast First Vice Governor Nikolai Korotin with a delegation of Jizzakh Region led by Deputy Hokim for Agriculture Mahmud Kholbutaev, BelTA has learned.

According to Mahmud Kholbutaev, this is his first visit to Mogilev Oblast. He expresssed hope that the meeting would serve as an impetus to boost regional cooperation and strengthen friendship between the peoples of Belarus and Uzbekistan. “Our goal is to study the Belarusian experience and technology in cattle breeding, production of meat and dairy products, and to establish trade and economic ties. The delegation comprises company managers and farmers. We hope that the current visit will result in concrete projects to step up cooperation,” he said.

Uzbekistan would like to learn about Mogilev's best practices in large-scale dairy production, including forage, cattle management, livestock breeding, and product processing. They show interest in using cooperation opportunities in the fish industry with the prospect of setting up a joint research center. Uzbek farmers are also interested in the purchase of Belarusian farming equipment and joint ventures to produce it in Uzbekistan. “We have great potential for cooperation and a lot of mutual interest in other areas,” said Mahmud Kholbutaev. “For example, we see great opportunities in boosting tourism. Belarus has beautiful nature and a well-developed tourism infrastructure. Uzbekistan boasts its variety of landscapes where the hot sands of deserts coexist with stunning lakes, while endless steppes take turns with green oases.”

In turn, Nikolai Korotin said that Mogilev Oblast is open to mutually beneficial dialogue and the development of all-round relations with Jizzakh Region. “We need to work more actively to establish and strengthen cooperation ties between enterprises, organizations and farmers. There is a lot of mutual interest. There are many intentions. We need to systematize them and build them into a long-term cooperation program, filling it with concrete economic, cultural and humanitarian projects. This will contribute to the development of the regions and the strengthening of friendship between our peoples,” he believes.

The first vice governor invited the Uzbek guests to take part in the 11th international investment forum Mill of Success which is due in the oblast on 28-29 June.

The program of the visit of the Uzbek delegation includes a business meeting in the Mogilev Office of the Belarusian chamber of Commerce and Industry, visit to the Mogilev breeding company and Babushkina Krynka.
