MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) - Belarus and Lithuania will discuss the draft report for the Implementation Committee (Espoo Convention) in late October, Vladimir Markov, senior specialist with the information and public relations department at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Protection, told reporters, BelTA has learned.
Belarus and Lithuania are to submit a joint report to the Implementation Committee (Espoo Convention) (Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context) by November.
“We are talking about the discussion of the draft agreement on the Espoo Convention between Belarus and Lithuania. We look forward to signing it. We do not exclude that other issues that were not discussed previously will be raised in the course of this meeting,” Vladimir Markov said.
Earlier, Belarus and Lithuania held two rounds of consultations on the NPP construction in Vilnius and in Minsk. The parties discussed the possibility of holding a third round of consultations. Vladimir Markov did not specify whether it may be held before the end of the year. But this possibility is considered, he said.
