Belarus, Latvia sign nuclear safety cooperation agreement

MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Latvia reached an agreement on early notification of nuclear accidents, information exchange, and cooperation in nuclear safety and radiation protection. The document was signed by Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov and his Latvian counterpart Maris Kucinskis in Minsk on 7 February, BelTA informs.

Andrei Kobyakov and Maris Kucinskis also signed a memorandum of mutual understanding on the main avenues of economic cooperation between the Belarusian and Latvian governments for the medium term along with an agreement on cooperation in civil aviation search and rescue.

An agreement on cooperation in science and technology was reached between the Belarusian State Science and Technology Committee and the Latvian Education and Science Ministry. Belarus’ Sports and Tourism Ministry and Latvia’s Education and Science Ministry inked an agreement on cooperation in physical education and sports.

Another document signed in Minsk on 7 February is a program of cooperation between Belarus’ Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry and Latvia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development for 2018-2020.
