MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – Belarus is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and is interested in developing relations with the European Union, its second biggest trading partner, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko said at the seminar “Reassessing Sovereignty in Today’s World” held by the Minsk Dialogue Initiative on 28 March, BelTA has learned.
Developing relations with both the sides is a sovereign right of the Belarusian state, the diplomat stressed. “Our sovereign interests will be implemented in full through the membership in the EAEU and by developing partnership with the EU. This will help the state preserve its sovereignty,” Oleg Kravchenko said.
“The European Commission needs to start dialogue with the Eurasian Economic Commission. There are technical contacts, but they are still few,” the deputy minister said.
