Belarus, Israel discuss further steps to boost all-round cooperationMINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Israel Vladimir Skvortsov and Sofa Landver, Israeli Minister of Aliyah and Integration, Co-Chairperson of the Belarusian-Israeli committee on trade and economic cooperation, discussed further measures to expand all-round bilateral cooperation. Taking part in the meeting was Director of the Department Eurasia 1 of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yacov Livne, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Israel.

When discussing the bilateral agenda, the sides reviewed the progress in the implementation of agreements reached at the fifth session of the committee in Minsk in March 2017. It was noted at the meeting that some of the measures have been taken and others are yet to be adopted. The parties discussed different avenues of interdepartmental cooperation, including interaction between the two ministries of foreign affairs in holding expert consultations on a wide range of foreign policy issues. They also reviewed separate aspects related to the status of draft bilateral agreements. Vladimir Skvortsov pointed to a good balance in bilateral trade and the intensification of investment cooperation. He also drew attention to the potential Belarus has for Israeli investors.

The counterparts touched upon the 25th anniversary of Belarus-Israel diplomatic relations. Several events were timed to the anniversary in the political, economic, information, and cultural dimensions in both countries. The sides have tentatively coordinated the preparations for another, sixth session of the committee on trade and economic cooperation scheduled for 2018.

Vladimir Skvortsov also informed Sofa Landver on the schedule of mutual visits due to take place in the months to come within the framework of Belarus-Israel interdepartmental and parliamentary cooperation.
