Belarus introduces medal marking 30th anniversary of Belarusian People’s Congress

MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 290 on 24 August establishing the jubilee medal “30 Years of the Belarusian People's Congress”, BelTA learned from the president’s press service.

The decree approves the regulations on the jubilee medal, its description and the specimen of the certificate accompanying it. The medal will be awarded to delegates of the Belarusian People’s Congress and individuals who have made a significant contribution to the establishment and development of people’s power in Belarus.

The year 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the first Belarusian People’s Congress. In 1996, the Congress played a decisive role in the country’s future. Today, as a constitutional body, it serves as a foundation for the sovereign and successful development of the state and society, as well as for preserving a stable political course, peace, and harmony in Belarus.
