Belarus interested in developing humanitarian relations with Georgia

MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – Belarus pays serious attention to the development of humanitarian relations with Georgia, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the extended talks with Georgia President Giorgi Margvelashvili on 1 March, BelTA has learned.

“Along with the pragmatic economic issues, we pay serious attention to the development of the humanitarian component. The mutual exchange of the Days of National Cultures gives us a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the history and traditions of our nations. The Belarusian and Georgian societies need to hold them,” Alexander Lukashenko is convinced.

The President emphasized that Belarusian citizens show much interest in the Georgian culture. Georgian festivals bringing together tens of thousands of people are a good testimony to that. Belarusian people also like to travel to Georgia. The inflow of tourists increased by one third last year.

“During the previous meetings I repeatedly stressed that Belarus is not an alien country for Georgia. We have been and remain brotherly nations. We are united by common history. About 14,000 Georgian people sacrificed their during the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invasion. We remember it and are grateful to your nation,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko thanked Giorgi Margvelashvili for the sincere and open meeting and expressed confidence that his first visit to Belarus will give an additional impetus to the vigorous development of the economic and cultural ties, friendly relations between the two states.
