MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and India Vladimir Makei and Sushma Swaraj met on 15 April to discuss the issues related to reforms in the UN Security Council and the whole organization in general, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting in the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs the parties discussed the ways to intensify the political dialogue, the exchange of visits at various levels. “Special attention was attached to the regional issues with the focus on the need for a peaceful resolution of emerging conflicts. The parties also talked over the reforms for the UN Security Council and the organization in general. The sides emphasized the importance of mutual support in the international arena,” the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The ministers agreed with the need to hold a regular meeting of the Belarusian-Indian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation as well as the Business Cooperation Council Belarus-India with the purpose of working out concrete projects aimed at the intensification of the trade, economic, investment and financial cooperation, the search for new opportunities to develop business ties.
The meeting also focused on cooperation in cultural, sci-tech and education spheres.
Besides, Vladimir Makei met with India’s Deputy Minister of Defense to discuss the prospects of bilateral cooperation in the military and technical area.
