MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – Belarus advocates digital and transport coherence in the region of the Central European Initiative (CEI), Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov said at the Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CEI Participating States in Croatia’s Split, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Foreign Ministry.
Speaking at a plenary session Evgeny Shestakov emphasized the importance and relevance of the Central European Initiative as a platform for promoting a dialogue and pragmatic cooperation between the countries of Central, Eastern and Southern Europe with a view to strengthening regional stability and security.
He underlined that it is vital to improve digital and transport coherence in the CEI region and to support sustainable economic development of the organization’s member states.
The Belarusian diplomat deems it necessary to promote compatibility and complementarity of various integration processes in Europe and to expand the CEI’s partnerships with other international organizations.
Italy will assume the CEI Presidency in 2019.
