Belarus, Hungary to intensify ministerial consultations

MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Hungary Alexander Khainouski met with Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto and Minister of Agriculture Istvan Nagy, BelTA learned from the diplomatic mission.

“The Belarusian ambassador and the minister of foreign affairs discussed ways of promoting bilateral economic cooperation. Focus was made on joint projects in construction, pharmaceuticals, credit and finances, transport and tourism. An agreement was reached to take concrete joint steps to expand the legal framework of bilateral relations, to intensify ministerial consultations and add more items to their agenda,” the embassy said.

“The meeting with Minister of Agriculture Istvan Nagy focused on ways of building up trade in agricultural and food products, strengthening interaction between the veterinary services. Cooperation in plant breeding and seed production, implementation of joint investment projects in livestock and poultry were also on the agenda. The parties reviewed the issues related to the presence of Belarusian producers of farm equipment on the Hungarian market and ways to increase it,” the embassy informed.

The meetings were held in preparation for the ninth meeting of the Belarusian-Hungarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation due in Minsk on 5-6 November 2018. The event will be co-located with the bilateral business forum.
