MINSK, 10 July (BelTA) – Over 100 people have already received official permissions for emigration to Belarus because of the events in Ukraine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Ukraine Valentin Velichko told reporters in Minsk on 10 July, BelTA has learned.
“Every day we receive up to 50 calls and give necessary instructions. We have worked out written recommendations which have been harmonized with our migration bodies,” the Ambassador said.
Valentin Velichko emphasized that there are a lot of requests of this kind. People are exploring the possibility to move, studying the accommodation and employment opportunities. The Ambassador said that not all of them fall into the category “refugees”. There are many immigrants who can acquire the Belarusian citizenship under the fast-track procedures.
As for the age of those who want to live in Belarus, there are pensioners and young people who are eager to work in agriculture and other industries, including at the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. “They see that they will definitely get housing and jobs here,” Valentin Velichko said.
