Belarus-France cooperation in Eastern Partnership discussed in Paris

MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France Pavel Latushko met with Pierre Andrieu, French Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-large for the cooperation in the EU Eastern partnership and OSCE Minsk Group on October 12

The meeting focused on the interaction of Belarus and France within the framework of the EU initiative Eastern Partnership, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in France. Pierre Andrieu stressed that the European Union is starting to use the strategy of individual approach to the development of relations with the Eastern Partnership countries. In this regard, Pavel Latushko and Pierre Andrieu expressed the hope that the future joint work of the EU and Belarus in this initiative will meet the interests, expectations and opportunities of each of the parties to the extent possible.

Pavel Latushko briefed Ambassador Pierre Andrieu on the work done by the Belarus Embassy to develop bilateral contacts in the political, economic and cultural areas. In particular, a joint Belarusian-French commission for economic cooperation held its first meeting. Belarus and France conducted its first business forum. The work is underway to establish ties with regions of France. In 2013-2015 Belarus’ economic and investment opportunities were presented in various French cities. Besides, the Days of Belarusian Culture are held in France on a regular basis, cities of the two countries develop twinning relations, inter-parliamentary cooperation grows stronger.
