Belarus’ FM discusses lifting of visa restrictions with foreign counterparts in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, 12 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov held a number of meetings with foreign colleagues on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

During the meeting with the ministers of foreign affairs of Bahrain, Brazil, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Uganda, and Uruguay, attention was focused on removing existing visa restrictions, holding sessions of bilateral commissions on trade and economic cooperation, consultations between ministries of foreign affairs, and support on international platforms.

Apart from that, the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs had informal contacts with the leadership of states and ministries of foreign affairs of BRICS member states and BRICS partners. In particular, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed Ali, and Prime Minister of Vietnam Le Minh Hung expressed gratitude for Belarus’ active development of relations with these countries, and passed on the warmest wishes to Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko.

On the same day as part of work with the Indian business community Maxim Ryzhenkov held meetings via the chamber of commerce and industry as well as meetings with major Indian entrepreneurs. The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs also held a meeting with President of the New Development Bank Dilma Rousseff, during which he confirmed Belarus’ intention to complete the process of its accession to the bank.

Upon instructions of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Maxim Ryzhenkov is participating in the 18th BRICS summit held in New Delhi. The capital of India is hosting 26 delegations from various countries, including BRICS partner states, as well as international organizations. The main theme of India’s current BRICS presidency is “Building for resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability”.
