Belarus, Estonia to bolster trade, investment

Photo of the website of the Estonian governmentMINSK, 9 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Estonia intend to bolster trade and investment, the press service of the Belarusian government told BelTA following the visit of the Belarusian delegation led by Belarus’ First Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Matyushevsky to Estonia.

Vasily Matyushevsky met with Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas. The parties confirmed their commitment to the gradual intensification of Belarus-Estonia cooperation. It was noted that the current level and the potential for development of the two countries economies provide an opportunity to expand trade and investment and bolster cooperation in science and culture.

During the meeting between Vasily Matyushevsky and Andrus Ansip, Vice-President of the European Commission’s Digital Single Market, the sides discussed the prospects for cooperation between Belarus and the EU in digital economy with the focus on the development of e-trade and cross-border e-services in transportation and logistics.

The Belarusian delegation took part in the second ministerial meeting of the Eastern Partnership initiative on digital economy to discuss the steps to harmonize the digital markets within the framework of the Eastern Partnership initiative, including future regional pilot projects.

The Belarusian delegation visited the e-Estonia Showroom to see the presentations of the digital capabilities of Estonia and digital solutions in banking sector.

The Belarusian delegation also held a meeting with the business leaders of Estonia’s petrochemistry and transport sectors. The prospects for strengthening trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Estonia and implementation of investment projects were also on the agenda.

The Belarusian delegation also attended the concert Music Without Borders organized with the help of the high bandwidth network and innovative technologies. The show featured famous musicians performing in Tallinn and Minsk in the real-time mode.
