Belarus, Egypt agree on texts of mutual legal assistance and extradition treaties

MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) - Belarus and Egypt have agreed on the texts of the draft treaties between Belarus and Egypt on mutual legal assistance in civil and economic matters and on extradition, BelTA learned from spokeswoman for Belarus’ Justice Ministry Olga Murashkovskaya.

Representatives of Belarus’ Justice Ministry flew to Cairo to participate in the bilateral consultations of experts on the development of cooperation in legal matters. “The talks were held constructively, in a spirit of partnership and mutual understanding. The experts agreed on the texts of the two draft international treaties: on extradition and mutual legal assistance in civil and economic matters. Both parties are prepared to take all necessary measures to ensure that the treaties should be signed as soon as possible,” Olga Murashkovskaya said.

Olga Murashkovskaya explained that the signing of the extradition treaty is very important for combating crime. The conclusion of the international treaty on legal assistance will enable the competent authorities of both states to address matters in civil and economic matters through letters rogatory.
