MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – Belarus has eased several procedures for conducting demarcation of the Belarus-Ukraine border. The decision was enforced by Decree No. 422 “Concerning the demarcation of the state border of the Republic of Belarus with Ukraine” signed by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on 1 September.
The decision was prompted by the need to implement Article 3 of the Belarus-Ukraine Border Treaty as of 12 May 1997.
The document provides for special conditions of conducting demarcation works on this part of the border. The border section in question is 1,084.2km long. The special terms are aimed at the efficient use of budgetary funds while conducting the works. The decree eases some demarcation procedures, which will help reduce the timeframe and the cost of the works.
The demarcation works will be conducted by the State Border Committee of Belarus.
