Belarus, DPRK agree to give new impetus to bilateral cooperation

MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) - Belarus and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) have agreed to give a new impetus to the relations between the two countries. This matter was discussed at the meeting between the North Korean delegation headed by Foreign Minister Ri Su-yong and Belarus Trade Minister Valentin Chekanov, BelTA learned from the press service of the Trade Ministry.

"The two sides discussed the mutual beneficial cooperation, with particular emphasis on the development of certain areas of trade and economic cooperation," the press service noted. It noted that the main purpose of the visit of the DPRK delegation is to raise the level of trade and economic relations with Belarus, to increase the import of Belarusian goods, especially food products and agricultural machinery, and, in general, to give a new impetus to the bilateral relations.

The parties confirmed the interest in establishing contacts between partners for the sake of developing the stable and independent economy and improving the well-being of peoples. Mr Ri Su-yong also stressed the importance of resuming the work of the joint commission on trade and economic cooperation between the Governments of Belarus and the DPRK.
