Belarus, Czechia to recognize each other’s citizens’ pensionable service years

Belarus, Czechia to recognize each other’s citizens’ pensionable service years

MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Labor and Social Protection Minister Irina Kostevich and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Czechia to Belarus Tomas Pernicky signed an administrative agreement on applying the Belarus-Czechia pension coverage agreement on 25 September, representatives of the Labor and Social Protection Ministry told BelTA.

The signing of the administrative agreement represents another important step in advancing international cooperation in the area of pension coverage. Its implementation will allow citizens, who live in Belarus and Czechia, to get pensions in recognition of the years of work done in the two countries.

The administrative agreement specifies details of how the relevant authorities of Belarus and Czechia will cooperate to calculate and pay pensions taking into account the agreement’s provisions. The administrative agreement and the pension coverage agreement will come into force on 1 October.

Pension insurance fees will be paid according to general rules of the country where the citizens work. Pensions will be given by each country in recognition of the years of work and paid in the country the citizen lives in now. Pensions from Belarus to Czechia and vice versa will be paid in euros by transferring the necessary amounts to the pensioner’s personal bank account in the country of residence.

If a pensioner moves from Belarus to Czechia or vice versa, the pension he or she is entitled to due to years of work in the country of origin will follow the person.
