Belarus’ cooperation with Russia’s Novosibirsk Oblast expected to advance to new heights

NOVOSIBIRSK, 27 September (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov expects a brand new level of cooperation with Russia’s Novosibirsk Oblast. Andrei Kobyakov made the statement after meeting with Novosibirsk Oblast Governor Vladimir Gorodetsky on 27 September, BelTA has learned.

According to Andrei Kobyakov, there are no special factors that deter the advancement of bilateral cooperation. “Not all the opportunities have been fully explored. That’s it,” he said. On 27 September the prime minister visited a medical technology cluster in Novosibirsk, the S.A. Chaplygin Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute, and the electric motors manufacturer OOO Sibelektroprivod. Belarus can advance mutually beneficial cooperation with all these organizations, the Belarusian head of government is convinced.

Belarus and Novosibirsk Oblast manufacture trams together. Making grain harvesters is the next step. “Our joint product with a high degree of localization in Novosibirsk Oblast will sell well in the entire Siberian Federal District,” believes Andrei Kobyakov.

“A Belarus-Novosibirsk Oblast trade turnover of over $200 million may seem like a good figure. On the other hand, we see that the potential is much higher. A considerable increase can be secured via concrete projects,” he concluded.

A protocol was signed as a result of the meeting of Andrei Kobyakov and Vladimir Gorodetsky. The protocol stipulates terms of cooperation between companies in Novosibirsk Oblast and Belarus, interaction in the area of modern technologies, the manufacturing of science-intensive and innovative products, cooperation in agriculture, civil engineering, transport, and other spheres.

The S.A. Chaplygin Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute and Minsk commercial aviation factory No.407 have signed an agreement on cooperation in replacing engines in Yak-40 aircraft. A protocol of intent to cooperate in renewing the agricultural machines fleet in Novosibirsk Oblast was signed. The Belarusian heavy truck manufacturer BelAZ and the electric motors manufacturer OOO Sibelektroprivod signed an agreement on strategic partnership.
