MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) – Belarus is anxiously following the situation in Kyrgyzstan where an operation to arrest Kyrgyzstan’s former president Almazbek Atambayev resulted in the death of one special forces officer, injuries and traumas, Andrei Shuplyak, Deputy Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told reporters, BelTA has learned.
“We hope that these tragic events will not lead to the destabilization of the situation and discord in the Kyrgyzstan society,” Andrei Shuplyak said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that the Kyrgyzstan authorities will be able to enforce the rule of law and stability and avoid the further escalation of the situation that can lead to casualties.
