Belarus, China eager to implement at least 30 R&D projects in 2019

MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – Belarus and China intend to implement at least 30 joint R&D projects in 2019. The statement was made by Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus Aleksandr Shumilin in BelTA’s press center on 29 April.

The official said: “We advance our R&D and innovation cooperation with China. A 30% increase in joint projects has been secured. While 21 Belarusian-Chinese projects were implemented in 2015-2016, their number reached 28 in 2017-2018. The projects focus on microelectronics, optics and laser technologies, biotechnologies, new materials. Those are only the projects that enjoy state support. In truth the number of joint projects is even larger. This year we intend to finance at least 30 new Belarusian-Chinese R&D projects.”

For instance, the science and technology park Polytechnic of the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) and the Lanzhou University of Technology are implementing a joint project to research the effect that compounds, schemes, and regimes of cold supersonic spraying have on the evolution of coating of friction joint components. A gas-thermal evaporation workshop has been arranged. Equipment has been delivered, installed, and commissioned. Sample details with test coatings have been made.

Results of the project implemented by the A.V. Lykov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Taiyuan University of Technology are used to design equipment to measure the thickness of coatings, which are supposed to be exported to China.

Two Belarusian-Chinese contests were arranged in 2018. The State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus received 48 suggestions on implementing various projects. As many as 20 projects will be financed soon as a result of the first contest.
