Belarus, China discuss exchange of visits at highest and high levels

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) - The exchange of visits at the highest and high levels was discussed in a meeting between Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Wang Yi in Beijing on 27 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The parties discussed the urgent issues of bilateral relations, including the exchange of visits at the highest and high levels, contacts between parliaments of the two countries,” the press service informed. The Ministers also discussed holding the second meeting of the Belarus-China intergovernmental committee for cooperation in Belarus in 2016, the prospects for visa facilitation, and also the cooperation in the international arena.

Vladimir Makei and Wang Yi welcomed the high dynamics of development of bilateral relations between Belarus and China.

Vladimir Makei is in Beijing on a working visit to attend the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA). Vladimir Makei thanked the Chinese counterpart for the invitation to this meeting. This is the first time Belarus is participating in this event in the capacity of observer state. Belarus received the observer status at the CICA in April 2015, the press service informed.

The Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is a large regional forum on cooperation, security, economic growth and stability in Asia. The CICA Member States cooperate across the priority areas: economic, environmental, humanitarian and military-political areas, the fight against new challenges and threats (terrorism, laundering of illicit proceeds, drug trafficking, trafficking in human beings).

The meeting brings together 26 countries from Central and South-East Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. Observer status at the Conference has been granted to Belarus, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Lebanon, Malaysia, the United States of America, Ukraine, Philippines, and Japan.
