Belarus calls for negotiations on international security at Conference on Disarmament in Geneva

MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – We need to launch the international negotiations process as soon as possible, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas said as he addressed the High-Level Segment of the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Andrei Dapkiunas called upon the participants of the meeting to assess the depth of the security crisis that the international community has been facing in recent years. As a response to the current crisis the Belarusian diplomat urged to launch immediately large-scale multilateral negotiations to overcome the entire set of differences. Negotiations should be aimed at developing new algorithms and acceptable-to-all rules in the context of the growing multipolarity of international relations.

Andrei Dapkiunas laid out Belarus’ approaches to the possible role of the conference on reducing tensions and responding to new challenges and threats to international security. The |Belarusian delegation takes an active part in the work of the Conference on Disarmament and is in favor of reviving the work of this multilateral negotiating mechanism as soon as possible.
