Belarus, Brazil mull over visa-free trips

MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Brazil are looking into opportunities to introduce a visa-free regime for holders of regular passports, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told media on 1 October, BelTA informs.

The relevant discussions are underway as part the visit of Oleg Kravchenko, Head of the America Department of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to Brazil and Cuba on 1-6 October. The program of the visit will include bilateral political consultations at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and Cuba.

At the meetings in Brazil on 1-3 October the parties will consider the state and prospects for developing a political dialogue between the two countries, as well as trade, economic and investment cooperation. The parties will also take stock of the progress made in the implementation of agreements reached at the meeting between the presidents of the two countries at the BRICS summit in Ufa on 9 July 2015.

The consultations will include an exchange of opinions on the development of the Belarusian-Brazilian cooperation in education, science and technology, culture and sport. Special attention will be attached to the development of the legal framework for cooperation, including the elaboration of opportunities to introduce a free-visa regime for holder of regular passports.

The diplomat will also speak at the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy and hold meetings with representatives of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Associations of Entrepreneurs of Brasilia.

The Belarusian-Cuban ministerial consultations slated for 5-6 October will focus on bilateral and multilateral relations as well as bilateral cooperation in international organizations.
