Belarus, Brazil aim to establish cooperation through trade unions

MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Federative Republic of Brazil Andrei Andreyev, as a guest of honor, took part in the plenary session of the World Public Summit “New World: Latin America in Creating a Common Future” on 16 June, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Brazil.

The event, held in the city of Salvador in the state of Bahia, brought together political, public, and religious figures, as well as scholars and journalists from more than 20 countries. It was organized by the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations “Assembly of the Peoples of the World” and the Central Workers’ Union of Brazil. Its purpose is to promote practical initiatives in public diplomacy.

In his address to the plenary session, Andrei Andreyev emphasized that Latin America is one of the key centers of the emerging multipolar world. Belarus, for its part, has been and remains a reliable partner for the region, ensuring its food security and consistently opposing political and economic blackmail, illegal sanctions, and restrictions that undermine the foundations of international law and hit the most vulnerable segments of the population.

On the sidelines of the event, the Belarusian ambassador also met with Adilson Araújo, President of the Brazilian Workers’ Confederation, the country’s third largest trade union organization, which unites 1.65 million members. The parties agreed to work out concrete steps for Belarusian-Brazilian cooperation through trade union organizations.
