Belarus’ Belaya Rus, Tajikistan’s People’s Democratic Party sign cooperation agreement

MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian party Belaya Rus and the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan signed a friendship and cooperation agreement in Dushanbe, BelTA has learned.

A delegation of the Belaya Rus party led by Chairwoman Olga Chemodanova is taking part in the international forum Political Parties and New Horizons of Cooperation in Dushanbe on 10-12 June.

The interparty cooperation agreement was signed following a meeting between Olga Chemodanova and First Deputy Chairman of the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan Maliksho Nematzoda.

Olga Chemodanova described the signing of the agreement as a landmark event and a natural result of the consistent efforts to strengthen Belarusian-Tajik relations.

“The foundation is the trust between our leaders. Relations between Belarus and Tajikistan have received a powerful boost thanks to the policies of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. Their warm and friendly relations are reflected in practical cooperation and commitment to supporting the ally,” she said.

Olga Chemodanova highlighted the common values shared by the two parties. “We see strong similarities in the approaches of our parties. Like the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan, Belaya Rus is committed to protecting the interests of ordinary citizens, their security and well-being,” she noted.

Particular attention was paid to economic cooperation. Despite global turbulence, cooperation between the two countries remains systemic in nature. Belarusian machinery is in use in Tajikistan, industrial cooperation continues to expand.

The parties discussed the development of tourism, transport links and prospects for cooperation in the digital sector. They emphasized mutual interest in information exchange and studying each other’s experience in party-building and expressed readiness to advance these areas through interparty dialogue.

On the Belarusian side the meeting was also attended by Aleksandr Shpakovsky, a member of the Presidium of the Supreme Political Council of Belaya Rus, a member of the House of Representatives and Charge d'Affaires of Belarus in Tajikistan Nikolai Kolodkin.

Under the agreement, the parties shall hold joint consultations and exchange information on current developments in Belarus and Tajikistan, share experience in party-building, organizational work and youth policy, and cooperating in other areas of mutual interest. The document also provides for mechanisms of dialogue at the highest level aimed at strengthening friendship and political trust between the two countries and promoting interparty ties and regional-level contacts.
