The Belarusian delegation is taking part in the plenary sessions of the conference, presenting the position of Belarusian workers at the ILC technical committees and discussing cooperation with their counterparts from foreign and international organizations of trade unions.

Presenting his report “The End to Poverty Initiative: The ILO and the 2030 Agenda”, ILO Director General Guy Ryder stressed that “inequality, marginalization and division are not phenomena to which the world of work must react but the consequence of what we do, how we behave, what we decide. The world has entered an era where technology is generating innovate disruption of productive life. The debate amongst those who celebrate and those who dread such developments takes place against a background of inequality, marginalization, and division. If current trends towards and beyond already unacceptable levels of inequality are allowed to continue ... ultimately all will be losers.”

At the ILC plenary session at the UN Palace of Nations Mikhail Orda called upon the delegates of the conference to support the initiative of ILO Director General Guy Ryder to end poverty for the benefit of social justice. In his speech the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus noted that Belarusian workers support this ILO initiative. The leader of the national center of trade unions emphasized the need to build a peaceful and just society free from social barriers.

“Economic development and improvement of the workers’ wellbeing are possible only in a peaceful and stable environment. Belarus has voiced this thesis in the international arena numerous times. We will stick to these principles. We call upon the ILO member states to pay more attention to the issue. Any conflict, be it inside the country or between the countries, aggravates the situation of ordinary people, deprives them from what we are all fighting for – decent work opportunities for all,” stressed Mikhail Orda.

The International Labor Conference is the supreme governing body of the International Labor Organization. The International Labor Conference is held annually in June.
