Belarus, Armenia pledge maximum efforts to promote business cooperation

MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – MPs of Belarus and Armenia agreed to exert maximum efforts for the development of business cooperation during the 10th meeting of the commission on cooperation between the Belarusian National Assembly and the Armenian National Assembly, BelTA learned from the press service of the Parliament.

The meeting discussed the topical issues of interaction in international parliamentary organizations, trade and economic cooperation. Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives Boleslav Pirshtuk, who is the head of the Belarusian delegation, expressed the view that the development of parliamentary contacts is an important element of bilateral relations and the inter-parliamentary commission should become an effective mechanism of systematizing and structuring the dialogue.

The participants to the meeting made reports on all agenda items. Vladislav Shchepov, a member of the Belarusian delegation, chairman of the standing committee on economic policy of the House of Representatives, made a report on the status of trade and economic relations between Belarus and Armenia and the prospects for the interaction in the Eurasian Economic Union.

An agreement was reached to make efforts to further the development of Belarusian-Armenian business cooperation. The parliamentarians agreed to pay special attention to the development of conditions for establishment of joint ventures to produce the equipment in demand in the Armenian market and to search for mutually beneficial financing instruments.

According to the meeting participants, particular attention should be paid to enhancing cooperation at the regional level. A decision was made to facilitate the signing of the agreement on twinning relations between Minsk and Yerevan and to increase mutual tourist flows between the two countries.

The parties agreed on the constructive cooperation in international organizations such as the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The parties agreed to hold the 11th session of the inter-parliamentary commission in Minsk in 2018.
