MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No.140 on 16 October to approve the concept for the country’s border security program for 2018-2022, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The document explains the state's main national interests in the border area, identifies goals, objectives and principles for the effective protection of the border, and also priorities for improving and developing the border service within the next five years.
The concept will help ensure efficient protection of Belarus' national interests in the border area, strengthen good-neighborly relations.
The Council of Ministers has been tasked to approve a set of measures for the implementation of the concept within the next three months.
