Belarus’ approach to advancing relations with EU, Russia presented in Austria

MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – A delegation of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Deputy Minister Alena Kupchyna is on a visit to Austria from 27 to 30 August at the invitation of Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz. The delegation is attending the European Forum Alpbach 2016, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“On 29 August, Alena Kupchyna outlined Belarus’ approaches to the development of relations with the countries of the European Union and Russia and also to the maintenance of regional security. The diplomat also shared the country’s view on the prospects of the European integration processes,” the press service said.

Alena Kupchyna met with Austrian Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs Sebastian Kurz. Current agenda of the Belarusian-Austrian relations and prospects of the dialogue and cooperation between Belarus and the EU were discussed during the meetings of the head of Belarusian delegation with Secretary-General (Deputy Minister) Michael Linhart and Deputy Minister, Political Director Alexander Marschik.

On the sidelines of the European Forum Alpbach, Alena Kupchyna also met with Slovakian Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, as well as with representatives of the EU institutions.

On 30 August, Alena Kupchyna will hold talks at the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria in Vienna.

The European Forum Alpbach is an annual event held in the village of Alpbach, Austria in August. The forum provides a discussion platform for politicians, academics and businessmen who exchange views on regional and global issues of common concern. This year’s edition of the forum established in 1945 has brought together some 3,000 specialists from more than 50 countries.
